Thanos has more than 15 years of professional experience in major events and international sport organisations.
Practicing sport since the age of 4, he holds a Bachelor in Sport Sciences and Physical Education (DUTH, Greece) and a Masters in Sports Management (UTS, Australia).
He has been involved in the organisation of two Olympic & Paralympic Games (Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004) in the areas of Marketing, Fundraising, Volunteer Management and Information Management.
In 2005, he joined the International Olympic Committee (IOC), where he has been heavily involved in the Olympic Games Knowledge Management Programme. He has followed and supported the information and knowledge management activities of 7 Olympic and 3 Youth Olympic Games Organising Committees. During his 9 years at the IOC, he was heading the development and management of IOC’s internal information and knowledge management strategy and operations.
Thanos is a Certified Knowledge Manager (CKM) from the International Knowledge Management Institute. Since 2016 he is an expert and member of the core team of the Global Active Cities project and member of the International Place Branding Association.
In 2014 he founded HIBOU Alliance.
